Lakesha Thomas

Clinical Supervisor

Lakesha is an innovative Clinical Supervisor and seasoned social work educator with over 14 years of experience advancing client care, case management, and clinical supervision across diverse communities. Her career reflects a profound dedication to social justice, trauma-informed practices, and advocacy for incarcerated populations, particularly centering the relational healing and wellbeing of families impacted by systemic oppression.

Currently serving as the Administrative Clinical Supervisor for the FAITHS Throughcare Program in collaboration with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Lakesha oversees clinical services and intern development within county jails. Her leadership has played a critical role in shaping holistic, community-informed reentry support for justice-impacted individuals.

As a former adjunct professor at California State University, San Bernardino, she developed responsive, empowering curriculum and mentored aspiring social workers to cultivate purpose-driven careers. She brings that same energy to student field instruction, offering weekly clinical supervision, feedback, and encouragement to Bachelor-level social work interns in partnership with multiple universities.

In her prior role with Children and Family Services, Lakesha spearheaded pilot programs such as the Voluntary Family Maintenance (VFM) initiative, an innovative approach to family preservation that embraced strengths-based, in-home services. Through years of service in child welfare leadership, she mentored newly hired social workers and interns, guided crisis intervention strategies, and reinforced ethical, policy-aligned practice.

Her commitment to equity extends into voluntary work with Genesis Re-Entry Services, where she leads initiatives focused on domestic violence awareness, resource access, and empowerment for women seeking renewed independence.

Lakesha holds a Master of Social Work and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Social Work at California Baptist University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), certified field instructor, and a proud alumna of the Managerial Leadership Academy, where she received rigorous training to expand her impact through transformative leadership.

Her work is grounded in a belief that healing is both relational and systemic. She continues to advocate for inclusive policy, community engagement, and trauma-informed environments within correctional and clinical settings.
