Overview
Many school districts across the State have created parent advisory groups for parents of African American (Black) students, often referred to as African American Parent Advisory Councils (AAPAC).
AAPACs are intended to gather stakeholder input and work together with parents to close opportunity and achievement gaps for African American students. A critical element for these groups to be successful is establishing meaningful engagement between parents and schools, mutual trust, and ability to work collaboratively to achieve mutually beneficial goals.
