Rayna Walters

Clinical Counselor I

Marriage & Family Therapist Trainee

Sherry is currently pursuing dual master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Professional Counseling at California Baptist University. She has always been passionate about helping others feel seen, heard, and supported, and she hopes to create a welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable being their authentic selves. For Sherry, therapy is a space where people can feel safe exploring their experiences, discovering their strengths, and working toward meaningful change. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue growing as a therapist and pursue a Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy (DMFT).

Sherry has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in both in-person and telehealth settings. She believes that every person has a unique story and that therapy should never be a one-size-fits-all experience. She enjoys getting to know each client and working collaboratively to develop an approach that reflects their individual strengths, needs, values, and goals. Sherry has a particular interest in play therapy and couples therapy. She enjoys helping children express themselves and process their emotions through developmentally appropriate and engaging interventions, especially when they may not yet have the words to communicate what they are experiencing. She also finds great meaning in working with couples as they strengthen communication, rebuild trust, deepen their connection, and learn to navigate life’s challenges together.

Sherry’s passion for counseling is also deeply rooted in her experiences growing up as the oldest daughter in her family. From an early age, she developed an appreciation for the importance of emotional well-being and how mental health can affect individuals and family relationships. These experiences played an important role in shaping her desire to become a counselor and deepened her belief that seeking support is a sign of strength rather than weakness. Sherry strives to create a therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, accepted, and empowered. She believes meaningful change begins with having a safe space to be honest and vulnerable, and she feels privileged to walk alongside clients as they work through challenges, develop greater self-understanding, and pursue healing and personal growth.
